Olah-lah Limbah Menuju Zero Waste

Semua limbah pakan dapat dijadikan bahan pakan ternak, asal perlakuannya dilakukan dengan benar, tekniknya bisa dibedakan dengan beberapa metode :

  1. Perlakuan secara fisika
  2. Perlakuan secara kimia
  3. Perlakuan secara biologis
  4. Perlakuan kombinasi fisik kimia dan fisik biologis
  • Perlakuan secara fisika

Perlakuan secara fisika pada bahan berserat tinggi bertujuan merombak struktur fisik dan memecah jaringan dinding sel. Perebusan atau penggodokan, pengeringan, penggilingan, pencacahan, perendaman, pengukusan dan pembuatan pelet pada limbah edamame adalah contoh perlakuan secara fisik.

  • Perlakuan secara kimia

Umumnya diperuntukkan terhadap pakan kasar, bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kecernaan pakan dengan cara memecah komponen dinding sel atau memecah ikatan lignin dengan senyawa karbohidrat.

  • Perlakuan secara biologis

Untuk mengubah struktur fisik bahan. Perubahan struktruk fisik bahan pakan dilakukan oleh enzim-enzim untuk memperkaya jaringan pakan dengan protein mikroorganisme. Perlakuan secara biologis umumnya dilakukan dengan enzim pendegradasi dinding sel seperti enzim hemi-selulose dan selulose dan enzim pemecah lignin. Perlakuan ini yang paling banyak digunakan oleh para peternak, misalnya dengan jalan fermentasi. Hanya sayang masih banyak peternak belum mempertimbangkan dosis yang tepat, lama pengerjaan, ketepatan suhu, penggunaan perangkat kerja dan bahan fermentor yang terkontrol, andal dan bermutu. Fermentasi adalah gabungan beberapa bahan dan bahan fermentor. Hasil fermentasi akan membentuk senyawa dan unsur kimia baru maka dibutuhkan bahan, dosis, suhu (panas), waktu, alat yang tepat dan berfungsi meminimalisir zat, gas metan, bacteri, kuman, virus berbahaya. Kesalahan perlakuan fermentasi akan merusak mutu bahan pakan.

Beberapa contoh bahan pakan yang bisa ditingkatkan kandungan dengan cara perlakuan secara biologis dan menjadi bahan pakan bermutu tinggi.
